NQ Mobile Appoints CFO
Beijing-based NQ Mobile Inc. (NYSE: NQ) appointed Mr. Roland Wu as its CFO, effective June 1, 2015. Dr. Vincent Wenyong Shi will step down from his role as the acting chief financial officer and focus on his responsibilities as the company’s chairman of the board of directors and chief operating officer. Wu, who was an independent director, and head of the compensation committee, now moves to a “director.” He has stepped down from the compensation committee. Mr. William Li was appointed an independent director of the company, as a new member to the compensation committee.

21Vianet CFO Resigns, Replacement Announced
Beijing-based 21Vianet Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: VNET) announced on June 22, 2015, that its CFO, Mr. Shang-Wen Hsiao, had resigned. The company has appointed Mr. Terry Wang to take his place. Wang has served as an independent director and chair of the Audit Committee since April 2011. Mr. Wang served as the chief financial officer at Trina Solar Ltd., (NYSE: TSL). Prior to joining Trina, he served as the executive vice president of finance of Spreadtrum Communications, Inc., a wireless and fabless semiconductor company listed on Nasdaq, from 2004 to 2007. Mr. Wang received an MBA from University of Wisconsin and Master of Science degrees from Brown University. Mr. Wang received his master and bachelor’s degrees from Fudan University. 21Vianet provides internet hosting and related services and a proprietary smart routing technology.

Daqo Energy Appoints CFO & Marketing Officer
Chongqing-based Daqo New Energy Corp. (NYSE: DQ) appointed Mr. Ming Yang as the new CFO, effective July 6, 2015. Yang was a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he specialized in the cleantech and solar sectors. Prior to that, he was vice president of business development and corporate communications at JA Solar Holdings Co., Ltd. (Nasdaq: JASO). Yang was an analyst covering the renewable energy sector at Coatue Management, a hedge fund based in New York. Before that, he was vice president and senior China analyst at Piper Jaffray based in New York and Shanghai, where he was a core member of the global cleantech team and covered the solar energy and semiconductor materials sectors. He has a Master’s from Cornell University and studied electrical engineering at University of California. As well, the company appointed Mr. Shihua Su as its new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Su was formerly the general manager of the company’s Xinjiang polysilicon manufacturing facilities, and prior to that the company’s financial controller. The former, CMO, Ms. Tracy Tianqun Zhou, left the company to pursue personal endeavors. Daqo Energy is a polysilicon manufacturer and sells photo-voltaic wafers.

Kirin Appoints New CEO & Three Directors
Kirin International Inc. (OTC Pink: KIRI) has appointed real estate executive, Mr. Jiangfeng Guo, CEO and President. Guo has been the chairman of Kirin’s board since March 2011. Guo replaces Mr. Longlin Hu who resigned from all his officer and director positions. The board also appointed Mr. Yaojun (Larry) Liu, Vice President, to the company’s board.

The company also appointed two independent directors to the board, Mr. Liu Ran and Mr. Yau On Johann Tse. Liu has served as a partner in Zhongrui Yuehua Certified Public Accountants LLP since October 2012 and currently serves as an independent non-executive director in Beijing Mainstreets Investment Group Corp. Liu received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Inner Mongolia University of Finance and Economics in 1994. He is a member of the Chartered Certified Accountants of Securities Yau founded and served as the CEO of Aquarian Capital Investment Co., Ltd. since March 2006. He has served on the board of China New Media Corp., was manager of Rohm & Haas Co., and general manager of John Swire & Sons (H.K.) Ltd. He received his MBA from European Institute of Business Administration in December 2009 and his bachelor’s degree from Department of Electronic Engineering of Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1990.

Solar Power Appoints New CEO
Shanghai-based Solar Power, Inc. (OTCBB: SOPW), has appointed a new CEO, Mr. Roger Dejun Ye. Before this, he has been working for Yangtze Investment, Suntech Power and Siemens Ltd. He has a master degree in applied physics from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Solar Power Inc. focuses on the downstream PV market, including the development, financing, installation, operation and sale of utility-scale and residential solar power projects in China, Japan, Europe and North America.

Ambow Appoints COO
Beijing-based Ambow Education Holding Ltd. (Grey Market: AMBOY) announced the appointment of Ms. Chiao-Ling Hsu as Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective immediately. Hsu has over 15 years of operating and management experience in the education industry. Since 2011, she has served as CEO of Hwa Kang Foundation, and as Executive Director of the Innovative Biz Group in the School of Continuing Education (SCE) at Chinese Culture University in Taipei. Prior to that, Hsu also was Vice Chairperson at the Center For Credentialing & Education in Greensboro, NC. Previously, she held several positions in the SCE at Chinese Culture University, including COO, Director of the Customer Contact Center, and Director of the E-learning Development Center. Hsu is a graduate of Chinese Culture University, and also holds a Master of Business Education from New York University. Ambow Education provides educational and career enhancement services in China.

Cellular Biomedicine Appoints COO
Cellular Biomedicine Group Inc. (Nasdaq: CBMG) has appointed Richard L. Wang, Ph.D., MBA, PMP as the new its new Chief Operating Officer (COO). He has worked at Procter & Gamble, Bristol-Myers Squibb, AstraZeneca and GlaxoSmithKline both in the U.S. and China. His most recent position was Senior Site Leader and Head of Operations, GSK R&D in Shanghai, China. He received his B.S. degree in Cell Biology from the University of Science & Technology of China, his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore and his MBA from Xavier University in Cincinnati. Cellular Biomedicine Group develops cell therapies for the treatment of certain degenerative diseases and cancers. The company has its facilities in Shanghai and Wuxi and its HQ in Palo Alto, Calif.

President Steps Down from Autohome
The president of Beijing-based Autohome Inc. (NYSE: ATHM), Mr. Xiang Li, has stepped down in mid-June. He will remain as a director with the board of directors of the company. Autohome is a website where automakers and sellers can advertise brand promotions, new model releases and sales promotions.

China Information Technology Appoints New Chief Product Officer
The board of Shenzhen-based China Information Technology Inc. (Nasdaq GS: CNIT) appointed a new chief product officer Mr. Guyangzeng Chen in late June. He replaced Mr. Zhisan Liang. Before CNIT, Chen was project manager at Coolpad group, a smartphone company. Chen graduated from Zhengzhou University with a B.A. in Computer Science. CNIT is an internet services company in the education, health, finance and transportation sectors.


Tal Education Appoints to New Independent Director
Beijing-based Tal Education Group (NYSE: XRS) has appointed Weiru Chen to its board. He will serve as the chairman of the compensation. Chen has been professor of strategy at China Europe International Business School. He has a Ph.D in management from Purdue University. Tal Education provides after school tutoring services to students from pre-school to twelfth grade. It has centers in 19 cities in China.

Agria Appoints Director
Beijing-based Agria Corp. (NYSE: GRO) appointed Mr. Brent de Jong as Executive Director. De Jong holds directorships with various publicly listed companies internationally. He is based in Houston, TX. Mr. de Jong was previously at Ashmore Investment Management Ltd. Earlier in his career he worked for JP Morgan. He is a graduate of Georgetown University. Agria is an agricultural company with business segments like seed and grain, crop protection and rural services.

Ming Yang Appoints New Board Member
Zhingshang-based China Ming Yang Wind Power Ltd. (NYSE: MY) group has appointed Mr. Zhongmin Shen to its board. He has been director of Olympus Capital, Huaneng Invesco, CLP Holdings and China Resources Power. He has master degree from both Peking University and University of Tennessee. Ming Yang is a wind turbine developer in China and ranks internationally in the top three.

Wowo Appoints New Directors to Its Board
In early June, in conjunction with its merger with Join Me Group (HK) Investment Company Ltd., Beijing-based Wowo Ltd. (Nasdaq: WOWO) appointed Mr. Huimin Wang, Ms. Xiaoxia Zhu, Mr. Feng Pan and Ms. Liyun Cao to its board. Wang is the founder of the Shanghai Min brand. Zhu has experience in the Chinese hotel and restaurant management. Pan has worked in the supply chain management sectors. Cao served as director and vice-president of Zhejiang Fishery Restaurant group. An e-commerce platform, Wowo will focus on online food service platform connection food merchants and consumer. It will have the new name JM WOWO. The company’s board now consists of eleven members. The Co-Chairpersons of the board are Mr. Maodong Xu and Ms. Xiaoxia Zhu.

Sky-mobi Appoints Independent Director
In early June, Hangzhou-based Sky-mobi Ltd. (Nasdaq: MOBI) appointed Mr. Min Xu as an Independent Director. He will serve on the audit, compensation and corporate governance and nominating committees. He replaced Mr. Kui Zhou, who stepped down for personal reasons. Xu is currently the CFO of UTStarcom (Nasdaq: UTSI). Prior to that position, he was a sell-side research analyst at Roth Capital, Wedbush Securities and Jefferies Group LLC. He has experience in technology, telecommunications, as well as engineering experience from his initial career as a software engineer at Cisco Systems, Inc. Sky-mobi is a mobile application platform and game developer.

China Finance Appoints Independent Directors
The board of Beijing-based China Finance Online (Nasdaq: JRJC) has appointed three new independent directors, Mr. Zheng Chen, Mr. Jian Wang and Mr. Yaowei Zhang, effective June 20, 2015. Chen is the CFO of Origin Agritech Ltd. Wang is the president of Five Star Holdings Ltd. Zhang has been an Independent Director of Shanghai Cimic Holdings Co., Ltd. China Finance Online is a web-based financial services company.


Qiming Promotes New Managing Partner
Shanghai-based Qiming Venture Partners has announced the promotion of William Hu as the new managing partner. William has been working with this company for nine years and its success primarily in healthcare stems from his efforts. He has a master degree in business administration from Shanghai International MBA Tongji University. Qiming is a venture capital firm and focuses on investments in technology, internet, consumer and healthcare.
