Dear Friends:

Four more companies announced this week they had received “Going Private” offers, but let’s not mince words. Essentially, it means that management wants to take their companies private and, in this era, in hopes of listing on a China exchange.

All this sounded good while the China exchanges were hopping. Then came the news this morning (US time) that both the Shanghai and Shenzhen markets had tripped over their own success. The New York Times “called” it in an editorial last Monday, June 15th, titled “China’s Unsettling Stock Market Boom.”

Time will tell if the forces of yin-yang will remedy the situation. In the meantime, maybe the exodus from the US markets will subside a bit.
